Vacancy - NLive Radio Station Manager

The University of Northampton Enterprise Limited is seeking a Station Manager to run the community radio station, ‘NLive’.

The successful candidate must have an excellent understanding of the purpose and format of a community radio station in line with the promise of performance issued by Ofcom. In this role, you will help to determine the station’s objectives and communicate these to all stakeholders effectively, providing leadership and motivation to ensure that the objectives are met. You will be responsible for guiding and implementing programming, speech, and music policy, and you will liaise across the University to embed the radio station within curriculum where appropriate, and to offer extracurricular opportunities to students. As Station Manager, you will have a proven track record of attracting and retaining volunteers, establishing a station’s culture, and managing internal and external communications and training.

In summary, you will ensure the smooth running of the station, and coordinating the activities of all the disciplines within it, including the development of multi-platform content, and ensuring the station’s compliance with laws, regulations and industry codes governing radio broadcasting.

I’m interested to see that there’s nothing at all in the Job Spec about the one thing that NLive is consistently failing to do - and that is to bring in advertising and parallel revenue.
I don’t see this appealing to an experienced and successful Station Manager.
