The Charles Parker Day and Launch of the Charles Parker Prize 2021 for the Best Student Audio Feature

A special online event on Tuesday 8th December 2020 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Charles Parker’s death and launch the annual student radio feature prize named in his honour - The Charles Parker Prize

Charles Parker was a brilliant unorthodox radio producer, whose ground-breaking work in radio and community theatre inspired all those who came into contact with him.

The Charles Parker Day is an annual event to celebrate his work and the radio feature itself, its past, present and future. In 2020 the Day could not take place in April as usual due to Covid restrictions. However, there will be a special online event on Tuesday 8th December, the 40th anniversary of his death.

For the past two years the five winners of the Charles Parker Prize have been broadcast by BBC Radio 4 in New Storytellers.

The event will focus on the launch of the 2021 Charles Parker Prize for the Best Student Radio Feature, and will celebrate his legacy through interviews with previous prize winners and others whose lives he changed.

It will be broadcast online starting at 7pm on 8 December and will be available to view at any time after that on the CPA Trust YouTube Channel.
A link to the event itself will be posted at and on the facebook page for the Charles Parker Prize.
