As reported in Community Media News #14 here is my first podcast under the inRadio branding.
It is a tribute to Dame Tessa Jowell who, sadly, passed away on 12 May. As Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport she played a central role in the establishment of community radio in the UK. Principally remembered for the success of the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics Dame Tessa leaves a remarkable legacy that few politicians achieve. This podcast features her appearances on Sound Radio in the run up to the 2003 Communications Act and on Somer Valley FM’s Paralympic Flame Day broadcast from Bath in 2012. With contributions from BFBS’ Nicky Ness, Siobhan Kenny, Chief Executive at RadioCentre and Radio Two’s Jeremy Vine. Lol Gellor, recalls a time of working with Tessa and her team in the lead up to The Communications Act and pays tribute from the Community Media Association.
