I’ve just seen on Twitter that Guy Starkey, professor of radio and the author of a number of books about the continuing relevance of radio, has died. Guy had been unwell for some time. He will be missed by his many friends and colleagues. 
How very sad. I met Guy at the European Radio Show in Paris when he was good enough to attend a talk I gave. We kept in touch and was a great sounding board for ideas on community radio sector development. He was consummate in gentle, quality, intelligent and knowledgeable conversation. My thoughts are with his widow and family.
