On 2 May 2019 there will be local (and mayoral) elections in some parts of England as well as local elections in Northern Ireland. As an aid to broadcasters, Ofcom has published a digest of evidence of past electoral support (i.e. election results) and evidence of current support (in the form of opinion polls).
I am very much looking forward to this, as are several of our presenters. It will be a real opportunity to show where radio can shine, allowing the public to see exactly who they are voting for. The local papers aren’t interested, it’s too small for TV and too much hassle for commercial radio. Community radio can really shine in this environment.
Has anyone any experience in having done a really good election coverage they would like to share? It’s good to compare notes.
