News from the Charles Parker Trust about the Tonight’s Charles Parker Day 2020 Event and launch of the Charles Parker Prize 2021

TONIGHT

A special online event premieres on the Charles Parker Trust YouTube Channel tonight (Tuesday 8th December 2020) to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Charles Parker’s death and launch the annual student radio feature prize named in his honour - The Charles Parker Prize

Charles Parker was a brilliant unorthodox radio producer, whose ground-breaking work in radio and community theatre inspired all those who came into contact with him.

The Charles Parker Day is an annual event to celebrate his work and the radio feature itself, its past, present and future. In 2020 the Day could not take place in April as usual due to Covid restrictions. However, there will be a special online event on Tuesday 8th December, the 40th anniversary of his death.

The event will focus on the launch of the 2021 Charles Parker Prize for the Best Student Radio Feature, and will celebrate his legacy through interviews with previous prizewinners and others whose lives he changed.

It will be broadcast online starting at 7pm on 8 December at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nt1N1j8OlNU

People watching will be able to ask questions in the live chat, and the video will stay online for anyone to watch later.
