From Tony Smith, Angel Radio:
Following a series of letters in the Norwich Evening News from older people bemoaning the fact that there is nothing on the radio catering for them, I wrote to the editor, David Powles, and told him Angel Radio is available on DAB in Norwich and we would send free digital radios, to the total value of £1,000, to the first people aged over 65 who wrote to me by letter (not email).
The Norwich Evening News published my piece and we have now donated £1,000 worth of brand new DAB radios to older people in Norwich. The radios fit with Angel Radio’s nostalgic broadcasts as they are retro-designed:
The first 16 older people who have already received the radios:
- Daphne - age 90
- Yvonne - age 83
- Derek - age 66
- Leonard - age 75
- Sheila - age 92
- Ann - age 78
- Jane - age 89
- Carole - age 70
- Shirley - age 76
- Ann - age 79
- Anthony - age 65
- John - age 90
- Jennifer - age 66
- Peter - age 82
- Margaret - age 82
- Charles - age 72
With another 4 radios being dispatched today. This initiative is using Angel Radios own finances.
