40 years of Junction Arts in Film

I was introduced to Chris Bevan last night, when I was recording a Decentered Media Podcast for the Leicester Documentary Media Festival. Chris is a film maker who produced a documentary about Junction Arts, and their appraoch to community-led arts.

It’s well worth watching, not only to see what has been achieved by Junction Arts, but also the emotional journey that the organisers and volunteers have been on.

We celebrated our 40th year anniversary as a charity in 2016. To celebrate the occasion we created a project called JA40, that archived and documented our 40 years of community arts. As part of the project we had this brilliant film made by Christopher Bevan of YSP Media, to tell our story. The documentary was nominated at the Royal Television Society Midlands Awards 2017 for Factual Programme of the Year.
